Each payment within CitiDirect must have a Transaction Reference Number to identify the transaction. The method by which the Transaction Reference Number is determined can vary by region (more specifically, by the back end processing systems used to support transactions within the region). Transaction reference numbers are generally system-assigned as specified in Client Preference in the Access Management category, which offers the following options:
When the preference is set to "Full Auto," CitiDirect assigns a number, assuring uniqueness within branch and base number.
When the preference is set to "Prefix," the Transaction Reference Number value will be initialized to the specified prefix value and the additional digits needed to complete the field are entered when the payment is input into the system.
When the preference is set to "Manual," the complete Transaction Reference Number is entered at the time the payment is input into the system. CitiDirect assures that the number entered is unique within the branch and base number.
