When data elements are added to a Rule Set, a connection between a data element in the source data file and a data element in the target CitiDirect file is created. This connection specifies which fields are included in the target CitiDirect file after an import.
To add data elements to a Rule Set:
On the Criteria and Rule Set Builder dialog box, select a data element (field) from the Import File Structure list box (left pane). The attributes of the selected data element are displayed in the element attribute form below the list box.
From the CitiDirect Element list box (right pane), select the data element to which the Import File Structure data element is to be mapped. The attributes of the selected data element are displayed in the element attribute form below the list box.
Click Add Element. The import file data element appears directly below its corresponding CitiDirect data element. When imported, the value contained in the import file data element is stored in the CitiDirect data element.
Notes:
If the element attributes of the selected data elements do not match, the name of the CitiDirect data element appears in red. When selected, a warning message appears at the bottom of the form listing the incompatibility. If you do not change or modify this data element, an error occurs when the file is imported.
More than one string type data element from the inbound data file may be added to a data element in the CitiDirect data file. If multiple inbound string type data elements are added to a single CitiDirect data element, their values are joined end to end (concatenated).
The possibility exists that an element selected from the left pane has a higher degree of decimal precision than the element it is being assigned to. For instance, the Import File Structure element may have four decimal places (1000.1234) whereas the CitiDirect element being mapped into may only store two decimal places (1000.12). In this instance, at the time the value is stored it is simply rounded to two decimal places. The general rule is that element values will be rounded, as necessary, to accommodate the precision of the CitiDirect element being stored into.
To remove data element mappings:
On the Criteria and Rule Set Builder dialog box, select a data element from the CitiDirect Element list box (right pane).
Click Delete Element. All mappings and rules previously defined for this data element are deleted.
