To create a new custom format

There are two types of custom formats:  Positional and Delimited.  Click for instructions for creating each type of custom format.

To create delimited custom formats

  1. On the CitiDirect navigation bar, click Maintenance, click Import Map Definition and then click Import Custom Format.  The Import Custom Format Summary Form appears.

  2. Click the Input/Modify Tab.  All of your available custom formats are listed.

  3. Click New. A menu appears.

  4. Click Delimited.  The Import Custom Format Details Form appears.  Note:  Required fields are identified by a red asterisk (* ).

  5. In the Format Name field, enter a unique name for the custom format (maximum 35 characters).  To copy from an existing custom format, click the Library Look-Up button and select a custom format.  The details of the selected format will be loaded, except for the Format Name and Format Description.

  6. In the Field Delimiter field, click the drop-down arrow and select a field delimiter.

  7. In the Record Delimiter field, click the drop-down arrow and select a record delimiter.

  8. In the Format Description field, enter a description for this custom format (maximum 70 characters).

  9. To enter file format data element information, click New. The Details Dialog box appears.  Each field is defined individually.

  10. In the Field/Tag Name field, enter a name for the field (maximum 25 characters).

  11. In the Type field, click the drop-down arrow, and select Integer or String.

  12. In the Enter/View Comments field, enter any additional comments pertaining to this field that you want to include (maximum 70 characters).

  13. Click Save.  The field is added to the field list summary form and the fields in the Details Dialog box clear.

  14. Repeat steps 10 through 13 until all fields have been added.

  15. Click Close to close the Details Dialog box.

  16. Review all field details and make any necessary modifications:

  1. Click Save to save the custom format with the name specified. The Input/Modify Tab appears.  The new Custom Format is listed.

Notes:

To create positional custom formats

  1. On the CitiDirect navigation bar, click Maintenance, click Import Map Definition and then click Import Custom Format.  The Import Custom Format Summary Form appears.

  2. Click the Input/Modify Tab.  All of your available custom formats are listed.

  3. Click New. A menu appears.

  4. Click Positional.  The Import Custom Format Details Form appears.

  5. In the Format Name field, enter a unique name for the custom format (maximum 35 characters).  To copy from an existing custom format, click the Library Look-Up button and select a custom format.  The details of the selected format will be loaded, except for the Format Name and Format Description.

  6. In the Record Delimiter field, click the drop-down arrow and select a record delimiter.

  7. In the Format Description field, enter a description for this custom format (maximum 70 characters).

  8. To enter file format data element information, click New.  The Details Dialog box appears.  Each field is defined individually.  Note:  Required fields are identified by a red asterisk (* ).

  9. In the Offset field, enter the field offset (maximum 9 numerical characters).

  10. In the Length field, enter the field length (maximum 9 numerical characters).

  11. In the Field/Tag Name field, enter a name for the field (maximum 25 characters).

  12. In the Type field, click the drop-down arrow, and select Integer or String.

  13. In the Enter/View Comments field, enter any additional comments pertaining to this field that you want to include (maximum 70 characters).

  14. Click Submit to add the field to the list.  The field is added to the field list summary form and the fields in the Details Dialog box clear.

  15. Repeat steps 8 through 14 until all fields have been added.

  16. Click Cancel to close the Details Dialog box.

  17. Review all field details and make any necessary modifications:

  18. Click Save to save the custom format with the name specified.  The Input/Modify Tab appears.  The new Custom Format is listed.
