From the Payment Services Summary Form, click New and select either New From Transaction Details. The Service Request Detail Form appears.
The Processing Location field defaults to Client Preference settings. If you want to select a different location, click the Library Look-Up button and select another processing location.
In the Payment Method field, use the drop-down arrow to select the type of payment the service is to be requested for.
In the Payment Service Request Type field, use the drop-down arrow to select Stop Cheque or Cancel Payment. Fields specific to this service request type appear in the lower portion of the Service Request Detail Form. Note: The service request types available are restricted depending upon the selected transaction.
In the Stop Cheque Reason field, use the drop-down arrow to select the reason for the stop cheque request.
Enter the name and phone number of the person requesting the stop payment.
Click the Transaction Details hyperlink to see the details of the payment. The Payment Details dialog box appears and shows the complete details of the transaction you are requesting a service for. You may not edit information in this dialog box. To view all information in a given field, click the multiple line button. Click OK to return to the Service Request Details Form.
Click Submit.
If the stop payment is successful, the Service Reference Response field of the Service Request Detail Form is updated with a Stop Payment Reference Number and a Cheque Number for each stopped cheque.
For each stop payment request that could not be processed, an appropriate status is reflected in the Inquiry Response field of the Service Request Detail Form is updated.
Notes:
A Stop Payment Service Transaction Request is used to restrict someone from cashing an unpaid cheque. Specifically, it is a request for Citibank not to honor a cheque when it is presented for payment by the beneficiary.
This request is only available for cheque transactions with specific status values, which are based upon processing location.
If the payment was a cross-currency payment, the FX is automatically undone.
If the original transaction involved an FX Contract, you are notified via the Inbox that "One or more contracts have an available balance."
