To create an FI Free Form Outgoing Message

FI Free Form Outgoing Messages allow you to communicate with Citibank electronically in reference to a Letter of Credit you have issued.

  1. The Transaction Initiator field is automatically populated based on your entry on the Selection Screen Details Dialog box.

  2. The Message Status field is automatically populated by the system.

  3. The Receiving Branch field is automatically populated based on your entry on the Selection Screen Details Dialog box.

  4. The Message Sent Date/Time field is automatically updated when the message is released for processing.

  5. The Message Reference Number is automatically populated by the system.

  6. In the Sender Reference Number field enter a reference number you will use to identify the message (Maximum 16 characters).

  7. In the Related Reference Number field enter the reference number of the Letter of Credit to which this message is related.

  8. In the Output Method field, click the drop-down arrow and select Electronic or Paper.

  9. In the Narrative field, enter the details of the message.  You may use the Library Look-Up button to select narrative text from the Clause Text library.

  10. Click Submit.  The Submit Dialog box appears.  To submit the transaction without adding any library information, click OK.  The transaction proceeds to the next step as defined by your Flow Control requirements.

    To submit the current transaction and save it as a Pre Format, select the Save as Pre Format check box and enter a Pre Format Code and Description in the appropriate fields.  Selecting this check box creates a new Pre Format Library profile that can be retrieved in the future to create a new transaction.  You can also select the Add Counter Party to FI Counter Party Library and/or the Add Bank Information to FI Trade Bank Library check boxes to add the counter party and trade bank information that you have entered into their respective libraries.  Once all selections have been made click OK.  The library profiles proceed to the next step as defined by your flow control requirements for each library and the transaction is subject to flow controls for transactions.

    Click Save to save all the entered information, whether complete or not, and return to the Input/Modify Tab.  A saved transaction can be viewed from the Input/Modify Tab, and it carries an "Input" status.
