Do I need a personal digital certificate when using AFRD? |
A personal digital certificate is optional, depending on whether additional file security, beyond what is provided via HTTPS, is desired. AFRD transmits all files via HTTPS. HTTPS (Port 443) provides for secure Internet communications. In addition, applying the personal digital certificate via a customized encryption/decryption program can further protect the file. The CitiDirect AFRD service offers three options for securing the file: 1) HTTPS with File Encryption & Signature, 2) HTTPS with File Signature only and 3) HTTPS without File Encryption or Signature. Option 3 does not require a personal digital certificate, but still necessitates a Web server SSL certificate. |
