To create a new direct debit mandate for South Africa

In South Africa, Direct Debit Mandates are not a regulatory requirement.  However, they allow Citibank to validate all incoming direct debit instructions.  

  1. On the CitiDirect navigation bar, click Maintenance, and then click Direct Debit Mandate.  The Direct Debit Mandate Summary Form appears.

  2. On the Input/Modify Tab, click New.  The New Mandate Header appears.  

  3. In the Credit Account Number field, click the Library Look-Up button and select an account number.  The Credit Account Currency field is automatically populated based on your selection.

  4. In the Mandate Type field, click the drop-down arrow and select Standard.

  5. Click OK.  The Direct Debit Mandate Detail Form appears.  Note: Required fields are identified by a red asterisk ( * ).

  6. In the Customer Ref. No. field, enter a reference number.

  7. In the Account Type field, click the Library Look-Up button and select an account type.

  8. The Beneficiary Branch Code,  Beneficiary Account, Beneficiary Bank Country, and Beneficiary Account Currency automatically populate based on the selected credit account number.

  9. In the Remitter Name field, enter a name for the remitter.

  10. In the Remitter Account No. field, enter an account number.

  11. In the Remitter Bank Code field, click the Library Look-Up button an select the payer's bank.  The Remitter Bank field is automatically populated based on your selection.

  12. The Remitter Acct. Country field automatically defaults to South Africa.

  13. The Remitter Acct. Currency field automatically defaults to ZAR.

  14. In the Remitter Address field, enter the address of the payer.  To view all information in this field, click the multiple line button.

  15. In the City field, enter the name of the remitter's home city

  16. In the Postal Code field, enter the remitter's postal code.

  17. In the Remitter e-mail field, enter an e-mail address for the remitter.

  18. In the Remitter Telephone field, enter the remitter's telephone number.  Include all country and area codes.

  19. In the Remitter Fax field, enter the remitter's fax number.  Include all country and area codes.

  20. In the Debit Amount field, enter an amount for the payment.  Note: If the Type of Amount is Fixed, the debit amount cannot equal zero.  If the Type of Amount is Variable, the debit amount cannot exceed the maximum transaction amount.

  21. In the Entry Class field, click the Library Look-Up button and select an entry class.

  22. The Instruction Currency automatically defaults to ZAR.

  23. In the Type of Amount field, click the drop-down arrow and select Fixed or Variable.

  24. In the Maximum Debit Amount field, enter a maximum transaction amount.  Note: If the Type of Amount is Variable, you must enter a maximum transaction amount. If the Type of Amount is Fixed, the maximum transaction amount is optional.

  25. In the Mandate Start Date field, use the date spinner or calendar to enter a start date for the mandate.

  26. In the Frequency field, click the drop-down arrow and select Daily, Weekly, or Quarterly.

  27. Click Save to save the data you have entered without submitting the mandate for validation.  The mandate appears on the Input/Modify Tab with a status of "Input."

    Click Submit.  The data is validated and the mandate moves to the next step in the process, as defined by Flow Control requirements.
