When building an import map, criteria are used to specify records that should be processed differently based upon a data element in a record in the file to be imported. Specifying criteria enables you to stipulate whether or not a Rule Set is applied to a record when the file is imported.
During the import process, CitiDirect tests each record against all available Rule Sets before processing the next record. If a record can be processed by multiple Rule Sets, the last successful Rule Set is used to import the record. This means that, if you have multiple Rule Sets, you must make sure that the list of Rule Sets is ordered from the most inclusive to least inclusive.
For example, if you are creating an import map with multiple Rule Sets and one of the Rule Sets has no criteria, it is crucial that this is the first Rule Set listed in the Import Map. If a Rule Set with no criteria is placed at the end of the list, it will be used to process all records.
Note:
When one Rule Set is associated with an import map, only Rule Sets within the same file format family can be added to that import map.
