When you specify a Secured Password ID, CitiDirect automatically assigns an eight-character initial password to that user and communicates that password to the Security Managers (Client or Citibank). For security reasons, one Security Manager has access to half of the initial password, and the other Security Manager has access to the other half. Each user with Secured Password credentials must have the complete password to successfully log on to CitiDirect.
On the CitiDirect navigation bar, click Access Management, and then click User Profile. The User Profile Summary Form appears.
Click the Input Tab. All user profiles with a "Processed" or "Repair Req'd" status that you are entitled to see appear.
Select the user profile for which you would like to view half of the secured password. To select multiple profiles, drag the cursor down sequential lines or hold the CTRL key as you click to select individual lines.
Click Other Options and then click View Password. The View Password Dialog box, listing the User ID and half the initial password for all selected user profiles, appears. The other half is represented by asterisks. For SafeWord™ or CBII IDs, the password field is blank. Note: To close this dialog box, click Cancel.
–OR–
If you also want to view the details of the selected user profiles, click Go to Details. The details of the first selected user profile appear on the User Profile Detail Form.
Click Other Options and then click View Password. The View Password Dialog box, listing the User ID and half the initial password for the current user profile, appears. Notes: You will only see half of the initial password, the other half is represented by asterisks. For SafeWord or CBII IDs, the password field is blank.
Review the password listed and click Cancel to return to the User Profile Detail Form. If multiple user profiles were selected on the summary form, click Next to view the details of the next selected user profile, and repeat steps 5 and 6 to view half of the initial password for that user. Note: Each user will need the User ID and both halves of the initial password to log on to CitiDirect for the first time.
Repeat this process for all selected user profiles.
Notes:
All Secured Password users must have ISP (Internet Service Provider) access in order to connect to CitiDirect.
Distribute secured passwords to users in a manner deemed appropriate with your internal processes.
The initial Secure Password is 8 alphanumeric characters with the following pattern: The 1st and 5th characters are upper case letters. The 3rd and 7th characters of the password are lower case letters. The 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th characters of the password are numbers. For example, if the password generated was A1j2C3l4, the second character will be a 1 (one), and the 7th character will be a lower case L.
When providing the initial secured password to users, it is important that they know that:
"0" is zero, not "O" as in Oscar.
"8" is eight, not "B" as in Boy.
"5" is five, not "S" as in Sam.
"A" as in Alpha, not "R" as in Rome.
"1" is one, not "I" as in India.
CitiDirect requires that initial passwords be changed immediately after the first log on and every 30 days thereafter. Click here for information on changing a secured password.
Security Managers will not be able to view password information once a user has manually changed it.
If you want to communicate this initial password to the user electronically, you should save this password information. To save the initial password information listed on the View Password Dialog box, click Save to File You must specify separate files for each password listed.
To print the initial password information for user profiles listed in the View Password Dialog box, click Print. The password information is printed, one user per page.
